Spain without a chance against France
On the third and final day of this year's Airport Trophy, Spain and France faced off. Both teams, each with one win and one defeat in their luggage, wanted to score again in a direct duel.
The beginning of the game was marked by a few technical errors on the Spanish side, which the French punished coldly. The many ball losses in attack were converted into simple counter-attacks. In the first 10 minutes, France already took a 1:5 lead. After the sleepy start phase, the Spaniards found their way into the game a little better. But the deficit weighed heavily in the 22nd minute at 6:13. The efficient French continued to score with ball wins in defense thanks to steadfast defense and assured keeper Julien Meyer. So they were allowed to go into the break with a comfortable 8:16 lead.
Despite the large deficit, the Spaniards have not yet given up. After the change of sides, the Spanish game also seemed changed. Slowly but steadily, the Spaniards caught up. The efficiency of the Spanish attack improved massively and the French showed more effort in the attack. After 50 minutes of play, the deficit had halved to four goals. But the break mortgage was ultimately too big. France was able to extend its lead in the final minutes and thus achieve the deserved 26:31 victory.
